Taylors of HarrogateTrees for Life AppealIn 1990 Taylors of Harrogate, a Yorkshire Tea and Coffee Merchant pledged to plant one million trees around the world.Purchasers of their Yorkshire brand of tea can contribute to the Trees for Life Appeal by collecting and returning the tokens which are being printed on the packs. For every six tokens returned, Taylors have been distributing fifty pence amongst four charities which are involved in reforestation programs in various parts of the world. The have helped to fund the establishement of tree nurseries in Ethiopia by Oxfam, and supported tree planting schemes in the UK run by The National Trust and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.They have also supported similar projects in Brazil and India and, of course, Equafor's Yorkshire Rainforest Project in Ecuador. Equafor have been directing the funding obtained from Taylors of Harrogate to the reforestation work which the Fundacion Jatun Sacha has been undertaking in the Yasuni National Park and at their biological station on the Rio Napo, and to the establishment of a tree nursery at the new reserve at Bilsa.
